Cooking: A Breakfast Method That's Hard to Sum Up in One Word

Lately I’ve been eating the same few things for breakfast and that’s really not ideal, so I decided to develop something new.

Breakfast, well, in a lot of places it has its own specific requirements:

  1. It has to be fast, mornings are short on time.
  2. It has to be balanced, basically you need a bit of meat and a bit of veg.
  3. It has to taste good. If you eat a pile of vomit-like stuff in the morning, your whole day is ruined.

So recently I made this thing I have no idea what to call.

The method’s simple. Get a bowl or a small ramekin, cut the bread into a round and stuff it in as the base, then layer in bacon, a slice of cheese (you can roll it around the inside edge), chopped cherry tomatoes, chopped asparagus, chopped shiitake, sprinkle on black pepper, and finally crack a raw egg on top.

Microwave on high for 5 minutes and it’s ready to eat. I remember seeing this somewhere, probably on the Tasty channel, just don’t know what it’s called, and they used an oven. But using an oven in the morning is too much hassle — the microwave is simpler and more brutal.

The final product looks pretty meh, but it tastes surprisingly good. Just eat the whole bowl with a spoon and you’re done.

I just don’t know what this thing should be called. If anyone knows, speak up.
