Snowy Night, I Strip My Little Sister Bare

Usually with games like this I write a first-person piece, make up some story, and call it a day.

But this game genuinely put me off doing that. If I wrote it that way, I’d end up sounding like a rapist myself. That said, even though this one looks like plain nukige, it’s the same as that earlier title from the same label — “even a nukige can have something under the surface.”

So let’s focus on what’s under the surface. Games rarely touch on this kind of criminal motive / psychology stuff.

The protagonist is a guy living alone in the big city. He goes to school, works part-time, and supports himself. Now and then he tutors his distant relative’s younger cousin; at school he’s polished, polite, well-mannered — by any measure, a “fine young man of the new era.”

Then one day his little sister from back home shows up. She says she’s planning to take the entrance exam for a school in his city and needs a place to stay over winter break, so she wants to crash at his place.

The moment he hears this, he gets angry. Every trace of the “fine young man” evaporates.

He even calls home and asks why the hell they had to send this burden his way.

The same thought repeats in his head:

“I hate my little sister more than anything!”

Why does he hate her? Because growing up he was always treated unfairly by his parents. They spoiled the sister and constantly blamed him, which bred his dislike — even hatred — of her.

He even beat her, and threatened her not to tell Mom and Dad.

But all of that gave his sister a strange feeling about him. She thought her brother was “so cool, such a real man,” and gradually she even started to long for him.

Coming to stay with him for the winter was her own idea, too. She wanted to help him a little, to be around him more.

So the story arrives at a very weird place: the brother hates the sister, and the sister loves the brother.

For the first few days of her stay, he gives her nothing but a cold reception — mostly lukewarm, right down to the grocery shopping and everything else. No question, he hates her, and he’s just waiting for New Year to be over so she’ll crawl back home.

But before that, the cousin comes to see him, because he’s still tutoring her.

When the cousin sees the sister, she gets a weird look on her face. Soon enough, on one of the days he walks her home, she confesses to him outright.

He’s baffled. What the hell does a kid like you know? Do you even know what love is?

The cousin is completely brazen about it: “Because if I don’t confess, you’ll get stolen away by that sister of yours. You two live together every day.”

screenshot.281.jpg

That line sends him over the edge. What? Liking his sister? His sister is the one thing he hates most! Though he’s more or less aware that his sister has some feelings for him.

Finally, in a fit of anger, he says to the cousin: “You like me, right? Do you know what couples do?”

The cousin shakes her head.

“Fine. Then let’s go do what couples do!”

Without a thought for the sister waiting for him back in the apartment, he drags the cousin off to a hotel.

What follows is the stuff you’d imagine, and since you don’t want to read it, I won’t describe it in detail.

What’s certain is that he doesn’t love the cousin. While he’s doing unspeakable things with her, what’s in his head is, “If I do this, I can definitely get back at my sister.” Weird as it is, all he’s thinking about is how to make his own sister more miserable — not simply getting intimate with the cousin.

From then on, he and the cousin do all sorts of shameful things almost every day. The cousin gets more and more open, and he often doesn’t come home, completely ignoring his sister.

But soon he finds it unfulfilling. He wants to take his revenge on his sister a step further. Since she has feelings for him, he decides to bring the cousin home and put on a show for her.

When the sister sees him finally come home, she opens the door — and freezes. He’s screwing the cousin, and doing it right in front of his own sister.

Seeing her witness everything doesn’t embarrass him one bit; he thrusts even harder, the room filling with the cousin’s moans.

The shock hits the sister hard. She stares, dumbfounded, then walks off without a word.

As if his revenge had succeeded, he feels a strange thrill.

The next day he finds his sister gone without a peep. Judging by the note she left, she went home.

At first he’s excited, and then he feels a hollow emptiness.

The cousin wants to screw him, but he can’t muster any interest. Only then does he realize:

All along he’s been fixated on his sister. Without her, he’s lost even his physical urges.

He decides to cut ties with the cousin. She begs and pleads, even saying: “You like your sister, right? Then I’ll play your sister right now!”

In the end, he’s lost it, and so has the cousin. She puts on the sister’s snowflake hairpin and a wig with the same hair, and they screw every day. He faces the cousin dressed as his sister and cries out his sister’s name.

The two of them just keep sinking like that.

And that’s where the story ends.

The game’s biggest highlight — the one thing worth talking about — is the protagonist’s feelings toward his sister.

On the surface he hates her, and his inner voice is constantly telling him that seeing her sets him on fire.

But looking at his actual behavior in the game, his feelings toward her aren’t really hatred — and certainly not love. It’s something more subtle:

Possessiveness and the urge to violate.

Seeing his sister gives him physical arousal, and anything related to her does too. What he does with the cousin is nothing but an attempt to provoke his sister, to make her feel “offended,” and that’s what gives him pleasure. Which is exactly why he feels so hollow once she goes home. And in the end he’s screwing a stand-in sister to satisfy the beast inside him.

He says in-game that his parents’ favoritism is why he hates his sister, but that’s just a psychological hint he’s fed himself. Bluntly: an excuse.

His true face is that of a beast who gets turned on by his own sister.

Yes — his feelings for his sister are just physical urge, not any kind of love.

This shows up in the game’s “sister route.”

The sister route has him abandon the cousin. One night he comes home, sees his sleeping sister, can’t control his dick, and forces himself on her.

After that it’s day after day of him and his sister going at it, the scale escalating, but he never confesses to her or says anything like “I like you” or “I love you.”

All it is is venting lust, which proves he only has a physical urge toward her. Ironically, the sister does love him — which is why she does all sorts of shameful things for his sake.

In the final ending, with the break over, he watches his sister about to head home and asks her to stay.

She decides to help him too, calls home to say she isn’t coming back and not to come looking for her. She chooses to run away with him.

The two flee to a deserted mountain village, screw endlessly every day, and become beasts ruled by lust.

So does the game have no “more pure-love endings”? Of course it does. You can choose to let go of his sister entirely and fully accept the cousin, and he’ll become a normal couple with her. You can also choose to have him rein in his inner desires, let his sister go home and finish her schooling, and the two will meet again and become something like a couple.

These come closer to “pure love.” I say “closer” because you still can’t see any love for women in him — he just seems at least a little more “human.”

screenshot.344.jpg

There’s also a “revenge for the sister” route, but it looks less like revenge and more like a crime. The sister’s classmate bullies her, so he decides to get revenge for her: he has the sister lure the classmate home, then rapes her and trains her into a cum dumpster.

Even though the game declares over and over at the start: all heroines are over eighteen.

Like hell anyone believes that!

All in all, Snowy Night, I Strip My Little Sister Bare looks like a simple nukige, but there’s a little substance under the surface.

A man’s feelings toward the opposite sex are complicated. Some say that when a man feels physical arousal at the sight of a woman, that’s the first sign of love.

screenshot.268.jpg

I’ve never agreed with that view, and this game seems to share my take.

Physical urge mostly brings out violence, while real “love” makes you more considerate of the other person — not just wanting to screw.

Some say, “With someone you truly love, you don’t rush to screw her; you mostly want to talk.” I think that’s fair. Love isn’t just sex — it’s mostly long companionship.

For this game’s protagonist, though, there’s not a whiff of “love.” He’s just a well-dressed beast with a sex complex.
