The Mi Home Security Camera

Just moved, and there’s not usually anyone home, so I figured I needed a camera to keep an eye on things. Looked around for a while and ended up going with a Mi Home product.

I bought what should be the entry-level model. Apparently it doesn’t support microSD storage — you can only view it remotely.

That’s what it looks like. Power is surprisingly over USB — I just plugged it straight into the router next to it and it worked fine. In theory you could probably run it off a power bank too, no idea how long it’d last though.

The camera is managed through the Mi Home app, and once it’s set up you can check on it from anywhere, anytime.

It also does “auto head tracking,” plus security alarm notifications — though I’ve never actually received one.

You can do two-way voice through the app. Maybe useful if you have a dog?

All in all this thing gets the job done. Recommended.
