Replacing the Battery in My LG Watch Sports
I’ve been using the LG Watch Sports for over two years now. Had it repaired once along the way, but lately the battery’s been getting noticeably worse.
So I figured I’d swap the battery. Taobao sells replacements, and there are YouTube tutorials for doing it yourself, but the whole process looked way too damn brutal.
While I was on the fence, I noticed the Taobao seller offering the batteries also does installation for you. Price wasn’t bad either — 100 yuan for the new battery plus the swap — so I decided to give it a shot.

And of course there was some drama this time around…
After I shipped it off the first time, the guy forgot to pick up the package. I had to nag him to go get it, and when he finally fixed it and sent it back — would you look at that — it wouldn’t charge.
I complained, so I sent it back again. But once he got it, he said he hadn’t done anything and that it charges fine, even demoed it charging normally and told me my charger was broken.
Except my charger works fine… He also chewed me out for wasting his time, so I just gave up and had him send it back.
When it arrived, it charged normally. No idea if it was my charger all along… or if he actually fixed something and won’t admit it. Either way, the watch works, so whatever.
So how does it feel after the battery swap:
It’s — insane!
Everything wireless on, always-on display on, and I still get a day and a half of battery. Goated.
Worth it in the end. There’s nothing on the market right now that’s a proper upgrade anyway, so this thing can hold me over until the mythical Pixel Watch finally drops.
