Edifier W830BT On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones

The main reason I bought this thing was to use at work. My requirements were simple:

  • Wireless Bluetooth, aptX support
  • Sound quality that’s at least passable
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Long battery life
  • As cheap as possible

Considering Edifier is the most honest brand in the budget range, I locked onto the Edifier W830BT.

Bought on JD, arrived the same day, and honestly it feels pretty solid — it meets basically all my needs. The sound is a standard pop tuning, and by “pop” I mean: some bass, with highs that get a bit of attention too, the kind of sound that doesn’t tire you out.

But the biggest selling point of these headphones is: the battery life is absolutely insane.

I haven’t charged them once since I bought them… word is this thing gets 95 hours, no idea if that’s true, but at least for two weeks of on-and-off use I still haven’t charged it.

It also supports wired connection, but wireless Bluetooth works well enough for me — paired with Fedora 31’s Bluetooth aptX module, the sound is reliable.

If your budget is limited and you just want “the cheapest possible balanced Bluetooth on-ear with aptX and long battery life,” Edifier is a good pick.

Of course, don’t expect LDAC at this price.
