PCM2704 USB Mini Sound Card

Lately, to make a living, I’ve been slacking off at work and playing eroge.

But there’s one annoying problem: a lot of old work PCs don’t have a sound card, and a lot of eroge refuse to launch if they don’t detect one.

I’m calling out Lump Of Sugar and SMEE by name. This policy is dumb as hell. Don’t you know most of your players are sneaking in playtime at the office? When they get home and actually have free time, everyone’s off playing Honor of Kings like Shiziku, not your eroge!

To fix this, I bought this:

Yep, it’s a USB sound card. Don’t let the looks fool you — this thing uses a PCM2704 decoder chip. The chip itself isn’t high-end, but back in the day plenty of rebadged units using it sold for four figures.

And on Linux it’s plug-and-play. I tested it, and it works on Win10 too.

Sound quality is whatever, honestly, but it also fixes the crackling and electrical noise on garbage PCs. Most importantly, once you plug this in you’ve got a sound card, so you can slack off at work and play whatever you want!

It’s more portable than a USB drive. Taobao price is under 50 yuan, you can haggle, and the seller even throws in some little toys. Genuinely a great deal.

I’d recommend it to anyone with the same needs as me, and also to Duan Ye, who’s stuck watching ero movies on a junk Toshiba tablet and constantly tormented by background noise.
