Cable Voodoo

So sometimes you just shouldn’t go poking around forums. A few days ago I was browsing Hi-PDA and saw a thread about what the best MicroUSB cable is…

The answer was remarkably unanimous:

Long cable: Softbank Short cable: Logitech

I happened to be short on cables, and they weren’t expensive, so I bought some to try…

I can’t be bothered checking whether they’re genuine or not — it’s just a cable. The Logitech ones come in blue and white, and even the blue ones have two variants: “charge only” and “charge plus data.” Worth keeping in mind.

So what’s the difference between these forum-recommended cables and no-name ones? After a quick try I couldn’t really tell…

Actually, there is one thing. Charging the Nexus 9 got a lot faster. Guess cable voodoo is real after all.
