Impressions: Xiaomi Electric Fan

Zhengzhou’s been way too hot lately, so I decided to buy an electric fan.

I actually tacked this fan onto the vacuum cleaner order, just because the stacked discounts kept going.

A few thoughts now that it’s here — keeping it short:

  • You have to assemble it yourself. Blades, outer frame, stand, all of it
  • It has a “natural wind” mode and 5 speed settings. The airflow is so-so, but 3–4 on natural wind is usually enough
  • It has Wi-Fi and hooks into the Xiaomi ecosystem
  • The app gives you more control, including the oscillation angle
  • You can set a timer too. I’ve only done it through the app, never with the physical buttons
  • The physical buttons are clear enough, but Xiaomi clearly wants you using the app
  • My biggest takeaway is how quiet it is. Like, genuinely silent. Way better than the 50-yuan fan we already had at home — that’s the part that makes it feel “worth the money”
  • It’s short, but the head tilts upward, which kind of makes up for it

Anyway, grab one on sale, or if you’re a refined young person like Miss Wang, buy one as a gift for Miss Pigeon or whatever.
