Kaiko no Okurimono (蚕の贈り物) Review
The Silkworm's Gift
Kaiko no Okurimono (蚕の贈り物) is something I stumbled on by accident — a tiny indie game…
The premise is dead simple: in a fairy forest there’s a moth youkai. It’s a moth, so its lifespan is short, and before it dies it wants to do something to prove it once lived…
To stay faithful to the “moths don’t live long” thing, the game actually slaps a time limit on you. Of… one minute.
Yep. The game is one minute long.

It plays like a standard “half-RPG visual novel” — you advance the story through dialogue and scene changes, mostly talking and picking options, and you have to finish the whole thing inside that one minute. There’s a countdown in the top right corner. When it hits zero, the moth spirit dies.
The dialogue is basically just choices, and pick wrong and you get a Bad End.

Good thing you can save before every choice, so if you’re fast enough it’s not really a problem.
The flow: find the first fairy and get a leaf, the second fairy alchemizes the leaf, the third fairy gives you a red thread, and finally the moth turns into a silkworm, spins silk, weaves itself new clothes to prove it lived, and then it’s over.

Honestly the whole thing is terrifyingly short, but there are a few bright spots. For one, it’s fully voiced — a game this small with full voice acting, that’s proper commitment. The BGM is decent too; looks like free assets, but it still says something about how much care went in. The real “fun” gimmick is the one-minute limit. Real moths and silkworms don’t live that briefly, but that minute gives the game its whole hook. The devs don’t seem too confident either — they wrote “the game is free, play it if you want, don’t flame us if you don’t.” Though there’s not really much to flame, is there.
Anyway, games aren’t ranked high or low. Even a little doujin game can use a bit of creativity to punch above its weight — same as that “1000-Character Detective” from last time.
