A Few Days with iQunix Metal Mouse Pad
Light Luxury Mouse Pad
Recently I keep hearing this word, “light luxury.” No idea who cooked it up first, but it caught on for a while anyway.
“Luxury” I get, but what the hell is “light luxury”?
“Luxury” mostly means: something you could handle for 50 yuan, you insist on handling in a 5000-yuan way, chasing that low cost-performance ratio. No doubt, luxury belongs to the rich, and “light luxury” looks more like a different kind of luxury for the broke-ass crowd.
Funny, right? Being broke and still wanting luxury, pretending to have money when you don’t — isn’t that just showing off?
Though fair enough, “light luxury” does carry a bit of that showing-off flavor to begin with.
Fortunately, after a while, people did manage to dig up a more positive meaning for “light luxury.”
Light luxury is just a lifestyle that respects quality of life more, unrelated to how much wealth or status you have — it represents the pursuit of quality in the details of life.
Okay, okay, okay, I get it. It means buying the good-quality stuff within your means and not buying cheap junk. So by that logic, I’ve been “light luxury” recently too — like buying a light luxury mouse pad or whatever…
I’m a longtime iQunix user, and I’m all for their idea of making metal mouse pads. Way back I bought a plain aluminum mouse pad with no color, and it felt great. First, the build is excellent — it’s just a mouse pad, but the edge work is spot-on. Then it looks good; it’s only a mouse pad, but it genuinely looks nice.
So recently iQunix announced on Weibo that a colored version was coming. I waited a while, waited for the black one, and grabbed it without hesitation. Feels good.

Same excellent workmanship, same nice feel, and with the color added, the friction on the mouse’s base pads isn’t as severe anymore. Solid praise.

That said, iQunix’s mouse pads are on the expensive side as far as mouse pads go, but the quality is worth the price. I figure… this probably counts as light luxury too, right?
