Fixing the Sound Blaster "thump thump thump" issue caused by PulseAudio on Audigy cards

System: Xubuntu 11.10

Sound card: Creative Audigy 4

Symptom: after every boot, whenever an audio event fires, the speakers go thump, then the sound plays, then another thump when it ends.

Fix:

sudo leafpad /etc/pulse/default.pa

Find

load-module module-suspend-on-idle

and comment it out.
