Koisuru Kimochi no Kasane Kata ~Kasaneta Omoi o Zutto~ (恋する気持ちのかさねかた ～かさねた想いをずっと～) Review

Around November last year, ensemble (Ongaku-ka) put out a game called Koisuru Kimochi no Kasane Kata, and I thought it was pretty good at the time. The story is whatever, but there are so many characters that you’re bound to like at least one of them — picking a route and going through it isn’t a bad way to spend time.

So as everyone knows, Japanese devs are great at squeezing out surplus value. The moment something gets a decent reception, they’ll immediately crank out a sequel or an FD to milk another round of cash. Galgame or Shirouto Zukan 7, doesn’t matter — if there’s confirmed demand, they’ll keep selling. On that front Japanese devs have even less shame than Baidu. So less than two months after release, ensemble announced an FD for Koisuru Kimochi no Kasane Kata, and the FD’s name is appropriately FD-ish: Koisuru Kimochi no Kasane Kata Kasaneta Omoi o Zutto. Forever overlapping feelings, or whatever… It finally came out last month.

The game isn’t big, only about 2 GB. Honestly I went in expecting the usual FD stuff — prequels, sequels, maybe a new hook. That might be because the ones I’ve played are things like Wheel Country and the Grisaia series. But really, an FD is basically an After Story: a forced extension of life for a story that already ended. For a character-driven game like this, an FD can only ever be garnish for the sex scenes. I was fully prepared to just skim through it. Didn’t expect this FD to actually have a few things that exceeded my expectations.

For the original Koisuru Kimochi no Kasane Kata I only did Kaburagi Yukie’s route, so I just followed her again in the FD…

And it’s labeled After Story, and it lives up to the name. Right at the start, the protagonist’s sister-in-law gets pregnant and needs someone to look after her. His brother has stuff going on, so the protagonist’s little sister gets called over. That leaves the protagonist alone at home, and the senpai-cum-student-council-president across the street, Kaburagi Yukie, takes on the重任 of looking after him during the upcoming three-day weekend.

Yeah, a three-day weekend, just you and your girlfriend at home, an FD, an After Story. You know what’s coming.

But that doesn’t mean the entire FD is just sex. I honestly think the writer put a lot of nerve-wracking content in there, including a part where the president/senpai Kaburagi Yukie gets recruited by the university tennis club after she starts college. The writer even made a point of describing the tennis club people as looking totally host-club-ish…

God, the tennis club — you know what that is, right? A yari-sā (casual sex circle). The protagonist’s girlfriend almost got pulled into an orgy circle, and the game plays it completely straight — she just gets invited because she’s so popular, and politely declines.

God, this has to be the writer’s secret scheme — a development that pretends to be nothing, while in the background the protagonist nearly gets cuckolded. If you told me that tennis club was a normal club, I wouldn’t believe you. You can feel the delinquency just from the lines of the guy who does the recruiting.

Besides that near-NTR segment, the other thing worth mentioning is that in this FD the president/senpai has completely transformed into a squeeze machine. The first time she goes two rounds and lets the protagonist off, and he wonders why she let him go so easily. Then the second time it’s four rounds. The third time it’s four hours — a full four hours. Oh, holy shit…

The protagonist even proudly says, “I know my girlfriend’s desire is a bottomless pit.” Terrifying…

This FD has a lot of routes, but it’s a character-selling game after all, so each one is a short story. After the protagonist gets squeezed for four hours, the game goes straight to the ED — it’s not that long. Just as I was watching the ED and thinking the protagonist got squeezed to death, there’s more story after the ED: the president/senpai and the protagonist, that rich bastard, go on an overseas vacation — to Hawaii, no less. Then the protagonist sneaks a glance at some actress who’s also vacationing nearby, and the senpai gets displeased, giving him a look that says “next time, squeezing you for four hours won’t be the end of it.”

I have to worry about the protagonist’s lifespan. If this game gets another FD, I bet the protagonist gets squeezed to death next time.

Man… I don’t really want to live lately either. Someone squeeze me to death sometime.
