Yakimochi Kanojo no Ichizu na Koi (ヤキモチ彼女の一途な恋) Review

Why Did It End Up Like This…

“Why did it end up like this… A perfectly good moe nukige brand, just like that, dead…”

I’m not talking about Yuzusoft when I mutter this… I’m talking about Pulltop Latte.

At first I didn’t really get what Pulltop Latte, the Pulltop sub-brand, was going for. I guessed it might be nukige-oriented—just slightly cuter nukige, so probably moe nukige.

I’d played one of their games before, Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort, and back then I didn’t quite understand why it was classified as a nukige. Then I saw Pulltop Latte’s later games and it clicked…

Turns out that game was originally defined as a nukige, but the artist was so good they accidentally made it look like a cute game.

So here’s the brand’s latest release: Yakimochi Kanojo no Ichizu na Koi (The Jealous Girlfriend’s Devoted Love).

(ヤキモチ written as 焼き餅 means jealousy—man, that word is interesting…)

The setup is basically: the protagonist gets confessed to first, gets a girlfriend, then gets hit on by various girls, and the girlfriend gets super jealous. That’s the vibe. Sounds pretty hot, honestly. I actually really like girlfriends with princess syndrome or a jealous streak, because I don’t worry about that at all—I have zero chances to talk to women anyway, and I can’t be bothered to go find other girls. With a girl like that, you don’t need to make the first move; she’ll cling to you on her own. Just thinking about it makes me hard… oh wait, I mean happy.

Anyway, enough about that. How’s the game itself?

I just want to say: “trash.”

The game starts with the protagonist getting confessed to by a girl—Takeda Iori… no wait, Ichinose Iori, the student council president, confesses and says she wants to have sex with him. He goes along with it… Afterwards Iori acts all tsundere, saying the sex was just out of boredom and she’s not sure if she likes him, so he shouldn’t get any ideas.

And he really doesn’t get any ideas…

Then on his way to school, the protagonist saves a girl, Shiraki Mio, from being raped by a chikan. Mio is super grateful and joins the protagonist’s cooking club (or culinary club, I forget). After joining, one day during the summer festival she confesses to him, and they start dating.

At this point, Takeda Iori… no, Ichinose Iori, the student council president, hears about it and is shocked: “I already slept with you, how could you go find another woman?”

“But you said you didn’t like me.”

Takeda Iori… I mean Ichinose Iori realizes her tsundere act really screwed her over, and finally comes to terms with it, saying:

“I wish you happiness.”

Then the protagonist and Shiraki Mio have sex, sex, sex, sex, sexsexsexsexsex, sex, sex, sexsexsexsexsexsexsex.

The end…

Of course, this is probably Shiraki Mio’s route. You see, I picked the other one to see the jealousy, and you’re telling me this is all there is??

I can’t even be bothered to talk about the daily conversations in this game—it’s about the level of an average AV. You’ve seen long AVs, right? Can you tolerate the dialogue in the non-sex parts? Don’t you just skip them? I endured Yakimochi Kanojo no Ichizu na Koi for a while, but it was mind-numbingly boring. Even with the 3P scene, it was still mind-numbingly boring. I skipped a lot, and once I started skipping, it was just sex scenes until the end with nothing else…

So the whole “jealousy” concept doesn’t really come across, the CGs are pitifully few, mostly just sex, and it still uses Pulltop’s ancient garbage engine—it has EMote.dll but no actual Emote content. I have no idea what the point of this game is. And the voice acting, aside from Shiratsuki Kaname who’s okay, the rest is just…

This is the worst game I’ve played this year, even worse than Lashitsusha. I thought Pulltop Latte’s previous games were pretty good…

Let’s look back at Pulltop Latte’s previous works: first Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to., then Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort, and after a few FDs came Mirai Kanojo. That’s when the quality started dropping—they changed the artist, and the official promotion got a bit weaker. By the latest Yakimochi Kanojo no Ichizu na Koi, Pulltop only released an OP and never mentioned it again… Plus, quite a few CGs in the game are off-model…

So they’ve basically abandoned it, and the game’s quality deserves to be abandoned.

Why did it end up like this… A perfectly good moe nukige brand, just like that, dead…

And Taguchi Hiroko in Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort was so fappable… oh wait, I mean so cute…

By the way, while looking up the game I found that the OP for the Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to. + Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort FD, “Kanojo to Ore to, Koisuru Resort Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to. & Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort W Fan Disc”, has a song called Shiawase summer that’s really good… While the OP for Yakimochi Kanojo no Ichizu na Koi is just…
