PocketC.H.I.P. Arrives — A Quick Unboxing
C.H.I.P. was a crowdfunding project — basically a $9 dev board, or something like that.

PocketC.H.I.P. is an expansion of that crowdfunding project. I backed it and bought one just to mess around with as a toy…
I actually joined back in March. The GetChip site said it should ship by July, and then when the date rolled around they told me it was delayed…
July turned into August, August turned into September, and it finally shipped. It went through Hong Kong post, from Hong Kong to Europe, and then from Europe all the way back to China…
Contents are simple — just a box. Watch the video for the details.

After unboxing I updated the sources. It’s running Debian internally, and there’s a decent amount you can do with it. The chipset on the back panel can be removed, and you can swap the battery yourself. Performance… is what it is. Somewhere between a Raspberry Pi 1 and a Pi 2, I’d say.
Honestly, thinking about it… why did I even buy this?
At the end of the day, I just love handhelds too much…
