I Bought a Mi Home LED Desk Lamp and It's Actually Pretty Cool
I never had a lamp by my bed, just this thing that looks like a Shift key and glows when you press it. I used it as a desk lamp, more or less.
Unsurprisingly, it died pretty fast. It cost 10 yuan, so whatever.
So to imitate the sheer flex of my personal idol, that miboy Wu Lao’er, I figured I had to buy a lamp. Can’t afford a fancy one, so I went cheap, and it turned out the Mi Home LED desk lamp was actually in stock. So I bought it.

The unboxing has been done to death online. There’s another one called the Yeelight bedside lamp or whatever, but it was out of stock, so I skipped it. Using this LED one as a desk lamp seems fine enough.
After a week, some impressions:
- You can adjust the color temperature. I’ve been into warm yellow lately. Brightness is adjustable too.
- The brightness is way higher than I expected. I thought it’d just be enough light to make out a vague silhouette.
- It looks pretty sharp. The tube is really long, though, so I can’t put it next to my PC, my monitor already maxes out the height.
- The MSRP is a bit steep. Wait for a sale, otherwise you’re better off with a regular brand.

Last thing: it does look good, and the features are actually usable, and at a discount it’s not expensive. Looking at its long skinny body, I touched the tube and it was a bit warm. Figure a long hot tube like that probably won’t cause too much trouble. No wonder Wu Lao’er the miboy likes it so much.
Anyway, it’s pretty cool.
