Black Pepper Roasted Chicken Wings
I bought an oven recently, so cooking has a whole new frontier to expand into.

It’s called black pepper roasted chicken wings, but really it’s mostly about the black pepper flavor. If you want to keep it simple, I’d recommend just buying a bottle of Heinz black pepper BBQ sauce.
Score the wings a few times with a knife, then marinate them in Shaoxing wine, dark soy sauce, and the black pepper BBQ sauce. An hour minimum, generally — longer is better.
Line the oven tray with foil, brush a layer of oil on the bottom first, then lay out a layer of sliced potatoes, put the marinated wings on top, and into the oven they go.

First round, 170°C for 15 minutes. I started at 150°C and it felt like it wasn’t enough.
After the 15 minutes, pull the tray out and flip each wing over. You can brush on a layer of honey, or add another coat of the black pepper sauce — I’ve got a heavy palate, so I went with the latter.
Then back into the oven for about 5–10 minutes and you’re done.
Tastes great in the end, just… a bit black. I really do love that black pepper flavor…
