菠萝炒饭

Saw this online, glanced at the recipe, thought it looked dumb as hell, and just went ahead and made it.

It really is that dumb. It’s just regular fried rice with some pineapple chunks thrown in, then stuffed back into the pineapple.

If there’s one thing that actually sucks, it’s hollowing out the pineapple.

Dice the scooped-out pineapple and set it aside. Heat the wok and stir-fry the shrimp first—pull them out as soon as they’re just barely cooked, set aside for later.

For the rice, start with the green peas and corn or whatever, then add chopped skinless sausage, give it a stir, add the rice, then the shrimp, and finally pour in the beaten egg.

Then season with a bit of salt and black pepper. Right before it comes off the heat, add the pineapple chunks and give it a quick toss.

Once it’s out of the wok you can stuff it back into the pineapple, like in the first picture, and you’re done. The flavor’s unusual—good unusual, fruity. Which is obvious, I guess, since there’s pineapple in it.
