Philips Sonicare HX6711 Electric Toothbrush
The electric toothbrush I was using before was the cheapest Oral-B you can get. I used it on and off for almost half a year, but I always felt the vibration just wasn’t satisfying enough. I even figured that’s probably just how electric toothbrushes are.
Then the thing broke a while back, so I started thinking about buying a good one. Originally I wanted the Philips DiamondClean HX9352 — it had dropped to around 900 RMB on Amazon UK at one point, and JD had a promo recently where you got one free with furniture, so you could pick one up on Xianyu for around 800.
But when I posted on WeChat Moments that I was going to buy this toothbrush, my ex (sort of, I guess?) said she wanted one too. So I figured I’d just give her the DiamondClean and, since I couldn’t afford a good one for myself anymore, settle for the second-tier HX6711.

From what I understand, the HX6711 and the DiamondClean HX9352 vibrate exactly the same. The DiamondClean just has extra attachments, fancier charging, and better looks.
Tried it once it arrived, and sure enough it’s a whole different beast. Or rather, the old Oral-B’s vibration was literally shit. This is what vibration should feel like — genuinely satisfying. I feel like I could even find some special uses for it.
I also picked up some better toothpaste on JD. I’d noticed a dark spot on my tooth recently and got scared enough to go ask a dentist. The dentist said “that’s a normal dark spot, not a cavity,” and only then did I relax.
Sometimes I can’t help but marvel at how hard it is for humans to keep every organ healthy. Eating is hard, exercise is hard, teeth are hard, bones are hard. But then again, maybe that’s exactly why humans can’t live long. If our organs never aged, wouldn’t we all be immortal…
