Why You Should Upgrade Your Walkman A35 Firmware to 1.20 Right Now
The thing people shit on the Walkman A35 the most has always been the unresponsive touchscreen.
And it’s not just the A35—Sony’s WM1A and even the WM1Z have the same problem. So Sony recently pushed firmware 1.20, and the changelog explicitly says it improves the touchscreen experience.
After updating, the touch feels instantly smoother. Silky, even.
Watch it for a bit and the trick is obvious: when you drag to pick a track, it doesn’t load the list right away. It waits until you stop dragging, then the list slowly crawls in. Before, it displayed instantly.
Basically, it lets you scroll smoothly first and loads afterward—and sometimes that loading part still freezes.

Feels like the Sony faithfools are a little resigned to it too, but it’s way smoother overall. Recommended upgrade.
