I Went for Sautéed Fish Slices and Ended Up with Braised Fish Slices

The plan was sautéed fish slices. Recipe still from Xiachufang.

Things went fine at first — marinating the fish, getting the ingredients ready, that sort of thing.

But when it finally hit the wok I stirred way too much, and a good chunk of the fish started falling apart. So I just added some water, thickened it with starch, and braised the whole thing.

Here’s how it turned out. Taste was okay. If I had to name flaws: not marinated long enough, and there was still a bit of a fishy smell.

Then I stir-fried the beef left over from last week too… with onion and potato.

Honestly beef is such a pain to get cooked through. I added some black pepper. Still feels like one of my weaker stir-fries.

Last, a plate of tomato and egg. No time, couldn’t be bothered to do anything fancy with the tomatoes.

I feel like my Chinese cooking has regressed.
