DELL XPS 27 Quick Impressions

Not mine — I was helping someone else unbox it. Since it was already open, I messed around with it a bit, so here are some quick impressions.

Honestly I don’t have much to say:

1. The specs seem pretty insane: i7 7700 + AMD discrete GPU, plus an SSD, a hard drive, and 16 GB of RAM.
2. The screen is genuinely impressive. 27 inches, wide color gamut, and Dell’s own color management.
3. The build quality is really good, and it has Thunderbolt output. Dell even supports external GPUs over Thunderbolt to boost performance.
4. The built-in speakers sit below the screen and are extremely conspicuous. Six speakers, and frankly, they look hideous.

I asked about the price… 3XXXX yuan. I’m just gonna say, at that price you might as well buy a Surface Studio, right? At least it doesn’t have speakers that ugly. Sure, it might not be as powerful.
