Time Is a Funny Thing
Just had a chat with the old guild leader from my WoW days back when I was a shut-in. We reminisced for a while, then he asked me what the guild’s core raiders are up to these days.
Honestly, I had no idea either… so I looked them up.
That guy who once made a point of refusing to buy rating and getting Gladiator on his own skill? He’s now happily farming rating, and bragging to me about how many battlegroups’ Gladiator titles he’s locked down.
The one who used to get all fired up about going hardcore PFU? He’s now cheerfully hanging around some rich kid’s guild, running with boosting services and spamming trade.
Time really does change a person. So many people get stuck obsessing over the thing they chased back then, and end up becoming the exact person they used to hate.
It’s just a game, sure, but it says a fair bit about people.
Maybe when I’m old I’ll write a memoir of my gaming days. There are way too many plot twists — I wouldn’t even need to make anything up, and it’d still have that Urobuchi-style “healing” touch.
