Syncing a Walkman ZX1 with Rhythmbox

Got the Sony ZX1 fixed, so naturally it came back empty and I started loading songs onto it. I used to naively assume Linux just couldn’t handle a Walkman, but then I thought about it — it’s a USB mass storage device, why wouldn’t it work? Reality, of course, was harsh: plugging it in didn’t get it recognized the way my flashed iPod did. So I poked around and found the method is stupidly simple.

Create a file called .is_audio_player in the root of the Walkman. Contents as follows selection_594.png

And then it works. selection_595.png

Some wiki says flac should be audio/flac, but in fact only x-flac works.

Yeah, nice, nice. One less reason to boot into Windows.
