Salt-and-Pepper Cookies

I’ve always made sweet cookies, so this time I figured I’d try a savory one.

Finished product first:

Making these isn’t really any different from other cookies. First cream the butter, then add powdered sugar…

Yep, sugar still goes in. Then an egg, keep whipping, and after that come the savory bits.

Two spoonfuls of salt, plus some salt-and-pepper seasoning…

You can throw in nuts too — I used sliced almonds — then it’s back to furious stirring.

Bonus points if you stir the butter while you’re creaming the butter.

Last comes the obligatory sifted cake flour, and the result is equally obligatory, but it tastes good. Next time I might try peanuts, or maybe black pepper.

The one I really want to make, though, is hot-pot-base-flavor cookies.
