Woke up Saturday morning and saw my Pixel C lying under the bed. It’d fallen plenty of times before, so I didn’t think much of it this time either. Picked it up and took a look…

Holy shit…

Pretty much like the picture — the outer glass is cracked.

Touch works fine, display works fine. It’s just the outer glass that’s broken.

Speaking of this Pixel C, I’ve had it for over two years now, used it constantly, and was honestly a little attached to it. Best tablet I’ve owned since the disaster that was the Nexus 9. Good colors, good screen, fast, and it could even run 王者荣耀 at high framerate without breaking a sweat. And now it’s just done for.

The even worse news: there’s nowhere to get this thing repaired, at least not that I could find, and the screen doesn’t seem to be for sale either.

Unless I track down a dead unit with a working board and swap it in… but even then there’s no guarantee it’d actually fix things.

Thinking back, I did a lot with this Pixel C. Having it leave me like this really stings — with the screen cracked, it feels like it’s unusable now.

So what now? I’ll try contacting Google to see if they can repair it, and check whether Shenzhen can work a miracle. If neither pans out, I’ll have to just sell it for parts.
