Sony WF-1000X "Noise Cancelling Beans" Get the 2.0 Firmware Update

Ever since I bought the “Noise Cancelling Beans”, I’ve been using them almost every day. Honestly, I’m happy with them.

Happy to what degree? Let’s put it this way: I’m even thinking about selling off all my audiophile-mysticism gear, because these are just too convenient.

The Beans sound good enough, the battery lasts long enough, and there aren’t many connection dropouts. Apart from a little video latency, they’re more than enough for just listening to music.

But a few days ago the Beans pushed out a 2.0 firmware update, said to further improve stability, so I figured I’d just upgrade.

The upgrade process wasn’t exactly smooth. I used a One Plus 5 and it took forever before the progress bar even moved, but after the upgrade there wasn’t much trouble—it resumed several times.

You ask what changed after the upgrade? I don’t think anything changed. They weren’t dropping connections before, and they probably aren’t now. One Beijing gay dude who likes wearing stockings and sanitary pads while riding his bike says he triggered Google Assistant with the Beans. I can’t get it to work no matter how I press, so I don’t know if he’d been a pervert so long he started hallucinating.

Overall the experience after the upgrade is still better, though. I feel the audio latency is noticeably lower—maybe because the app can now detect more media player software?

For example, it can detect NetEase Cloud Music and shows what song is playing.

Oh, and as for why I had to use a One Plus 5 to upgrade: my Sony XZP died and went in for repairs.

I’m a Oneplus Boi now.
