Xiaoxiaoyulei XZP Full Adhesive Film

Applying the XZP Full Adhesive Film

My XZP has been in for repairs a lot lately, and every time it comes back the film is gone…

So I have to reapply one, and suddenly there are a lot more options for XZP films now — this “optical adhesive film” kind.

I wrote about it before; this time it’s a domestic one called “Xiaoxiaoyulei”, and both the film itself and the optical adhesive are better quality than the Singapore one from before.

Still, there are a few things to watch out for when applying it, to raise your success rate:

First, make sure it’s level. The Singapore kit came with a little leveling thing…

This is really useful.

Then, don’t clean the screen with alcohol — just wipe it with a cloth. Alcohol affects the spreading.

When dripping the glue, make sure it’s centered and rounded, and don’t spill it, or it’s ruined and you get bubbles.

I recommend using this thing to prop up the film first, then slowly lower it — it works better.

Lastly, curing: it needs to be long, longer, make sure it’s really cured before you let go, or you’ll get edge lifting.

Overall it’s more of a hassle to apply than the previous one, but getting it done right feels pretty satisfying.

Oh right, protect your phone’s earpiece hole and your SIM card slot — the glue will corrode them.
