From Pebble to Rebble

The Pebble watch I bought stopped working on July 1.

That doesn’t mean it’s dead though — an outfit called Rebble has stepped up to take over.

All you have to do is go to Rebble’s site, migrate your account, and follow the tutorial.

Oh right, don’t forget to update your Pebble app on Google Play to the final version. Only that version lets you change the third-party server connection.

Click the link in your browser and the Pebble app pops up asking if you want to switch to Rebble. Hit yes and you’re done.

Everything works fine, except weather now costs $3 a month. Between you and me, though, some watchfaces pull weather independently, so you can get it for free.

One last thing: Pebble has this Bluetooth sync failure problem. I tested it for two days and traced it to Pebble’s own power-saving strategy — just plug the watch in while syncing and it works.

But whatever, not my problem. I’ve already moved to Android Wear.
