A Few Days with AXGIO Bluetooth Earphones

AXGIO Bluetooth Earphones

Haven’t done an impulse buy in a while. This time it’s because I saw this thing was cheap enough:

A 99-yuan Bluetooth earphone with aptX support and killer battery life.

So I bought one to check it out — my laptop supports aptX now too, after all.

Not much to say about the unboxing, but even at just 99 yuan it’s surprisingly presentable.

By the way, even at 99 yuan this thing ships free via SF Express. And get this — it says made in Shenzhen, but the shipping origin was a tech park in Zhengzhou. That’s the best part.

Same-city SF Express. Insane.

After unboxing I paired it with the computer and played some music. Pretty impressive. Fit is decent, pairing was smooth, and I could see aptX kicking in fine on the computer. Some people say this earphone supports aptX HD, but I didn’t enable it, and the official specs don’t clearly say so — probably made up.

Opened my music library and hit play…

After listening for about a morning, I’ve got a decent handle on how these earbuds sound.

First off, the tuning leans bright. Not too much, but a bit — the treble is definitely high, and a bit too high at that.

The bass isn’t super boomy; overall the sound is clear. At the 99-yuan price point, not having that thumping bass is honestly pretty good.

At the very least it’s well worth 99 yuan. Just don’t recommend it for electronic music — it’ll feel piercing.

Last thing worth mentioning is battery life. I listened for five hours straight one morning, then it reported low battery. It could actually still play, it just kept nagging about low battery. I’d guess it can do maybe six hours.

99 yuan, sound that isn’t muddy, mainstream battery life — I’d call that great value. Sure, this earphone looks like it might be some recycled or refurbished Edifier model, but whatever.
