A Record of Buying Faith Stickers

As an Ubuntu Linux user, one day I saw someone on Reddit stick an Xubuntu sticker on their laptop. Looked pretty good, so I checked it out — turns out it was bought from a site overseas called unixstickers…

I looked around on eBay and found nothing for sale, only custom orders, and my communication skills are way too shit to rope anyone into a custom order, so I just decided to try buying from unixstickers once and see how it went.

Six days later it arrived.

Buying is simple: register an account on the official site, add to cart, done. The only two things to pay attention to are the shipping method and how you fill in the address.

There are two shipping options, registered mail and express. Obviously, stickers are just stickers, so I strongly recommend registered mail. The site will warn you that with registered mail they can only guarantee it leaves the country, and once it reaches yours it can’t be tracked — but don’t worry, it usually won’t get lost.

For the address, I suggest just writing it in Chinese. Yes, Chinese characters, whatever your address is, write that. Just select China as the destination country so they know it’s headed to China; the rest is for the Chinese post office to read.

One thing to note: double-check the name field. I filled mine in wrong, putting “Li” for both surname and given name. Luckily the guy downstairs was clever enough to guess it was me, otherwise it would’ve been a hassle.

When it arrived, the stickers were small but well made. More importantly, sticking them on represents a kind of faith.

The world is a chaotic mess, faith is hard to find — having faith isn’t easy, ( ´∀`)
