Raspberry Pi 3 Unboxing

I bought the Raspberry Pi 3 the moment it launched, ordering from the official element14 store in China — original board, original case.

The case showed up ages ago. The board itself, element14 called to say it wouldn’t ship until the end of March. Credit where it’s due though, they actually shipped it.

DUNU Ear Hooks and C Tips

The accessories DUNU throws in are a real high point, the ear hooks especially. God-tier, honestly.

So I figured someone must sell them on their own. Checked the official site and sure enough there’s a box set with DUNU accessories, C tips, foam tips, a pouch, etc. etc.…

etc.… no ear hooks?

DUNU DN2000J

I’d been wanting a hybrid for ages, but kept going back and forth: K3003, or the DUNU DN2000J?

Some people say just go K3003, no hesitation. But the K3003 is way too fucking expensive.

Others say the DN2000J matches the K3003 on sheer technical chops, and only sells low because it’s made in China.

W from the office, who loves trains and has actually heard the K3003, says it’s just okay — too bright, too floaty, too sharp, not a good buy. Especially once he learned I listen to everything.

“Honestly, for your taste, an Audio-Technica IM03 plus a Sennheiser IE80 would be plenty. Don’t you already have the ER4P? Rotate those and you’ve got everything covered.”

But I still wanted a hybrid, just to feel one out. At least something above the 100-yuan tier — under 100 yuan I’ve already got the Xiaomi hybrid.

Thanks to a JD sale and 12 months of interest-free Bai條, the dream came true.

Natsu no Kusari (夏ノ鎖) Review

“The world is big, but everyone is equal. Scoring with girls isn’t the exclusive right of the rich and handsome. Even a loser with nothing has the right to get girls.”

“There are two ways to get a girl. One is to win her affection, fight for the boyfriend position, and finally score.”

“The other way… is to be a girl hunter—let’s just call it hunting for short.”

Maitetsu (まいてつ) Review

My grandma says I’m a train enthusiast.

Not that I have any memory of it.

So she started digging up old stories, saying that when I was little I’d cry over nothing, so she’d push me in a stroller to some riverbank in downtown Zhengzhou, park me where I could see a railway bridge crossing the river, and just watch the trains go by. Only in that environment would I stop crying.

That actually makes sense, but I have zero recollection of any of it now.

How Far Am I from Being a MiBoy?

Not sure where I read this, but at least one line stuck with me as pretty reasonable.

“A lot of people slowly realize that almost every device around them has quietly been replaced by Xiaomi—unless it’s Apple.”

I don’t use Apple, but looking back, I’ve got a fair amount of Xiaomi stuff too.

Mi Band, Redmi phone, Xiaomi power bank, Xiaomi batteries, Xiaomi Piston earphones, Xiaomi power strip, and… a Xiaomi latex pillow.

My First Experience Buying CDs from Taiwan

Overseas shopping is nothing new—I’ve seen people buy from Japan, the US, and the UK, but rarely from Taiwan.

Some discs are only released in Taiwan, and there doesn’t seem to be a direct way to buy them; most people go through Taobao proxies, which is a real pain.

But there’s finally a way: I found Rock Records’ official online store, so at least I can buy albums from a lot of artists I like.

When ordering, it explicitly says it supports mainland China, and even supports Alipay payment—though I still used a credit card.

FiiO RM1 Bluetooth Remote

I remember when I bought the FiiO X7, I raised a suggestion on their forum.

“Can you make the screen stay on, and support phone or car Bluetooth for control only, without audio output? I’ve always been running AUX out to the car stereo.”

FiiO’s official reply said they understood my request, knew that AUX input into the car was a real pain to control, and that they’d figure something out.

So direct control in the car really was hard, and FiiO put out this little thing: a Bluetooth remote…
