Making Sushi, Aaaaargh
I actually thought about making sushi last week, but some bullshit paper thing dragged it out until now.
So I finally had time to actually start making sushi…
I’ve always figured sushi was pretty easy to make!
And yeah, it’s actually stupidly easy!!
Playing PSP Games on Ubuntu
To play PSP games on Ubuntu you need an emulator… it’s called PPSSPP. There’s an Android version, a Windows version of course, and Linux and Mac OSX versions too, all downloadable from the official site.
http://www.ppsspp.org/downloads.html
However, at first I was following some Wiki or other and started compiling the Linux version from source. Halfway through compiling I discovered the official site lists a PPA. God damn it…
Some Bluetooth 4.0 Mouse Issues on Ubuntu 16.04
I wrote a note about this before, but I ran into a new problem recently. The problem is simple: Bluetooth keeps dropping.
So I dug around and started trying to fix it, and saw this error message:
Unable to register GATT service with handle XXXX for device F2:F2:F2:F2:F2:F2
So first, remove the already-paired device info from the pairing list and pair it again. Before pairing, turn on Bluetooth’s experimental mode:
sudo vim /lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service
Gakuou (学☆王 + PSP Ver) Review
Honestly, at this point I’ve basically turned into a pure moe-otaku.
What’s a moe-otaku? It means I no longer care about plot or story direction. As long as the girls are cute and the voices are nice, I’ll fucking say the game is good, and if someone says it’s not, I’ll fucking find excuses to say it is, and so on and so forth…
But you can’t really blame me, right? This is a world that judges by looks.
Hanahime Absolute! (ハナヒメ*アブソリュート!) Review
I’m a loser. Loser on every level. But even I have my own thoughts, my own opinions, my own ideas.
Still, there are always people in this world who can’t mind their own business, and their main method is forcing their own wishes onto you.
You want to resist, but you’re the loser and they’re the winner. When a winner lectures a loser on life experience, can you really say they’re wrong?
The feeling of being held down and fucked against your will — after the raw thrill wears off, all that’s left is despair.

Seafood-Flavored Fried Udon
Fried udon — I made this once before a while back. This is round two.
Last time had plenty of problems. First, it didn’t taste great: I used soy sauce instead of XO sauce. Second, way too oily and way too dark. Third, it took forever.
So this time I learned from that:
- Kept the vegetable prep fast
- Synced the udon blanching with the stir-frying so everything moves together
- Bought XO sauce, went easy on the soy sauce, added the greens last.
At least efficiency improved a lot — the whole thing took 15 minutes.

OverWatch Reaper
I haven’t touched Overwatch in ages. Last time I played was placements, and I was about to start grinding ranked when the trash talk broke out among my teammates not even a few minutes in.
I’m not young anymore. I play games for fun, not to win or lose. What I hate most is infighting between teammates.
It’s supposed to be 6v6. Even if you’re not great, if you cooperate and give it your all, losing is still fun. Why do some people care so much about winning, and why do they love flaming their own team until it turns into a 6v1 for the enemy and a quick loss?
Or the reverse — we’re attacking, the other team infights, and we get a free 6v1 win. Harsh to say, but that kind of infighting means “you never even get one proper game.” Somebody always decides they can’t win, gives up, and starts screaming. Every time.
Go look at Reddit. It’s nothing but bile. Everyone claims they carried the whole match, everyone says their teammates are trash. I’m curious whether all the god-tier players really do congregate on Reddit.
It’s just pointless. I want to play a game and have fun. Why does it have to turn into a shouting match? Whether or not I’m the one getting flamed, seeing that kind of infighting and ugliness still makes me feel sick.
Yeah, not upset — sick. Same kind of sick as seeing bad public behavior out in the real world. Flaming people in games isn’t civilized, as far as I’m concerned.
A Composer Worth Recommending: Meis Clauson
Sometimes I feel like I’m a “eroge music player” first and a person second, because I really, really love eroge music.
Listen to enough of it, though, and you start to notice that what makes a song good isn’t just the singer — composition and arrangement are the biggest factors.
Japan has a ton of composers, and they have a distinct trait: their styles are vivid. As for how “vivid,” I think even a Bilibili-addled middle schooler who’s heard too much Yuki Kajiura gets it. Lots of people latch onto certain composers’ signatures, and it’s kind of a micro-segmented hobbyist thing. You rarely see Kajiura change her sweeping style, and you rarely see Hiroyuki Sawano stop chasing that big, in-your-face sonic impact.
If we’re talking anime alone, I prefer composers with more variety in their scores — people like Taku Iwasaki and Tatsuya Kato. But today I’m not here to talk about them. Today I’m here to talk about Meis Clauson.
