Akeiro Kaikitan (あけいろ怪奇譚) Review

I’m personally a huge fan of horror-mystery stuff. Honestly, that’s the genre that got me into reading in the first place. Why? Because horror-mystery always dangles a hook in front of you and pulls you along, feeding your curiosity about what happens next. Compared to other works where you have no idea where the plot or story is headed, that’s already way better. It completely saved me in middle school, when I’d just read a few modern novels and gotten my face utterly wrecked by all that fantasy nonsense with no discernible main storyline.

Chrono Clock (クロノクロック) Review

One line: I don’t think much of this game.

chrono1.jpg

“I wrote this shortly after finishing the game, so there may be some grammar or common-sense errors in here. The writing was affected the whole time by ‘I just finished the game and I’m a bit emotional.’ As usual, there are spoilers, but not much more than you’d get from playing for half an hour. Here is my detailed explanation of how I write these impression posts. Other than that, this is a ‘write whatever comes to mind’ piece, probably not very organized, and it doesn’t dig all that deep into the game itself.”

Erohon o Sutete kara Ani no Yousu ga Okashii (エロ本を捨ててから兄の様子がおかしい) Review

What does it actually mean to love someone?

Everyone has their own take, but from start to finish, “love” and “sexual desire” are tangled together. Straight or gay, if looking at someone doesn’t get you hard, you probably don’t love them enough—unless something’s wrong with you.

Plenty of philosophers have mulled over matters of the heart, and they’ve praised or sneered at love in roughly equal measure. Most took a free and open attitude toward it, which is how we ended up with a lot of books that are, frankly, a bit “lewd.”

None of that is the point. What I’m getting at is that “love” ultimately needs “sex” to express itself—but what if there’s a massive wall in the way? Like, say, the taboo of blood relation?

Some say, “If you love her, make her happy.”

But if you’re a real brother and sister with no chance of a future together, does loving her mean you should hand her over to someone else?

To a normal person, that’s insane.

And “エロ本を捨ててから兄の様子がおかしい” is exactly that kind of insane game.

Toki wo Tsumugu Yakusoku (時を紡ぐ約束) Review

“Unfortunately, this just wasn’t the dish I was hoping for.”

gg1.jpg

“I’m writing this not long after finishing the game, so my impressions are probably still colored by that post-clear high. As usual, there’ll be some spoilers about the game’s ideas and setting, but nothing much beyond what the trial version already tells you. Just a heads-up about where this is coming from.”

Reviving an Old AMD Rig

There’s an old 3A-platform rig at home: AMD 965, R5770 GPU, 8 GB of RAM, and a crappy AMD motherboard. It still runs okay if you push it, but it’s a power hog.

So I hauled it into the office. Conveniently, the crappy Lenovo desktop they’d issued me had died anyway.

After reporting it, I found the old rig’s motherboard was on its way out, so I grabbed a cheap ASRock AM3+ board off Taobao. Listed as clearance stock — turned out to be brand damn new when it arrived. Literally new.

Then, to deal with cooling, I bought a garbage Xuanbing 300 off JD. Good enough, I guess.
