Cooking
Something you make for someone sick: steamed egg custard. Looks easy, but getting it perfectly smooth and pretty is actually kind of hard.
I’ve been eating fried eggs for breakfast so often lately that I’m getting sick of them, so I decided to add some stuff.
Haven’t cooked anything new in a while, so I tried this dish that “looks complicated but is actually dead simple.” Tastes great too — goes perfectly with rice.
After a long stretch of research and practice, I finally landed on the perfect way to cook a pan-seared chicken cutlet. Works for breast or thigh, no exceptions.
And it’s dead simple. Ten minutes and you’re done. Even if you’re a fat otaku with a girlfriend who’d rather lick black tights, you don’t have to drool over someone else’s food — you can make this yourself.
Lately I’ve been expanding my breakfast roster… mostly because I realized breakfast is the only meal I can be bothered to eat properly. The rest of the day I can’t even be assed to feed myself.
A while back I saw a heroine in some eroge who loves mashed potatoes, and watching her eat got me hungry as hell, so I went and made some myself.
Xinjiang’s been all over the place lately, and now I’m craving pilaf too. I still remember the Dingding stir-fried noodles—wait, no, the lamb pilaf and baked samsa I had in Beijing way back. Can’t get any of that now, so I have to make it myself.
Ingredients:
Lamb Carrot Onion Raisins Rice Cumin Soy sauce Salt
First time making bird’s nest. Logging it here:
Lately I’ve been eating the same few things for breakfast and that’s really not ideal, so I decided to develop something new.
Breakfast, well, in a lot of places it has its own specific requirements:
It has to be fast, mornings are short on time. It has to be balanced, basically you need a bit of meat and a bit of veg. It has to taste good. If you eat a pile of vomit-like stuff in the morning, your whole day is ruined. So recently I made this thing I have no idea what to call.
Asparagus is a good thing, or at least that’s what I gather from all the foreigners I see eating it for breakfast.
Nutritious, not too heavy on calories, and it crunches nicely when you bite in — for a moment there you feel like a panda…
I spent a while figuring out the best way to eat asparagus. Pan-fry it straight? Stir-fry it with rice? In the end I decided bacon is the best match.
Hence this bacon-wrapped asparagus.
I made a simple spread for New Year’s, so let me talk about the two dishes I haven’t covered yet.
