Notes
papirus-icon-theme is a solid icon theme, and it pairs nicely with the arc-flatabulous theme.
There used to be a PPA for papirus-icon-theme, but the maintainers decided it was too much hassle and stopped maintaining it.
Terminix is a GTK3-based terminal emulator, similar to the old Ternimator, though this one feels a bit more fancy.
Honestly, Terminix has most of what Ternimator has, but overall Terminator is still the more powerful of the two. Terminix just looks nicer, so take your pick.
One thing worth mentioning: Terminix integrates a bit better with Nautilus, with right-click support for opening a path directly.
Got some time to write dumb code again recently, so I opened Vim. First order of business was updating plugins, using Vim-plug.
And right after the update, problems showed up…
What the hell is this cursed color scheme?
Telegram got an update, and the Linux build picked up a genuinely useful feature.

Canonical rolled out the Ubuntu Livepatch service for 16.04 users. As the name suggests, you no longer have to put up with that fucking “Reboot required” message every time the kernel updates.
Go here:
https://ubuntu.com/livepatch
Log in with your account, or just register one if you don’t have it.
This method is outdated. There’s a newer, officially supported way—click here to see it /archives/5013/
Yakkety (16.10) has been out for a while, but the official Ubuntu 16.04 repos still haven’t picked this thing up.
So I had to install it myself. Great.
To play PSP games on Ubuntu you need an emulator… it’s called PPSSPP. There’s an Android version, a Windows version of course, and Linux and Mac OSX versions too, all downloadable from the official site.

However, at first I was following some Wiki or other and started compiling the Linux version from source. Halfway through compiling I discovered the official site lists a PPA. God damn it…
I wrote a note about this before, but I ran into a new problem recently. The problem is simple: Bluetooth keeps dropping.
So I dug around and started trying to fix it, and saw this error message:
Unable to register GATT service with handle XXXX for device F2:F2:F2:F2:F2:F2
So first, remove the already-paired device info from the pairing list and pair it again. Before pairing, turn on Bluetooth’s experimental mode:
sudo vim /lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service
ANGRYsearch is a knockoff wheel of the Windows search tool Everything.
First off, to use Vulkan on Linux you need an Intel or NVIDIA GPU. I’m not sure about AMD — it probably works too.
On NVIDIA, you need the latest 370-series driver before Vulkan support can be enabled.
If you don’t have the latest driver installed, use the official PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-370
