Accessories
Seeing this title, I have to bring up this pair of mysterious, exquisite little pieces of junk I paid a premium for from Japan.
What is this thing? I wonder if you can guess.
This is something I bought on a whim from Japan last year for 2,000 yen. The way you use it is so abstract that it’s been sitting in my drawer gathering dust for a long time.
A while back, right after I got my Pixel 6 Pro, I fired up Genshin Impact and watched this piece of junk stutter just fighting Dvalin. Then I thought about all the people hyping up the “Tensor Core” GPU as some beast…
So I figured, if this crappy SoC keeps throttling because it overheats…
Why not just slap a cooling fan on it?
When it comes to phone cooling clips, the first thing that comes to mind is the “Black Shark Cooling Case.” Yep, my thoughts still drift back to that virgin shark.
As a ThinkPad X1C 5th user, there’s actually one problem that’s been bugging me.
The laptop is so thin that the screen hits the keyboard when the lid is closed, leaving keyboard marks. That’s also why I recommend a screen protector.
But a screen protector isn’t a real fix, and putting one on a laptop is honestly pretty dumb. So I thought of another solution.
I had a PSP 3000 lying around, and I did play some visual novels on it back in the day. A few days ago I dug it out and found the battery swollen, the paint flaking off, and the thing generally dead.
Still, I’m attached to it, so let’s save it. I bought some parts on Taobao — pretty cheap, too — and figured I’d just refurbish it.
Hi everyone, I dropped my phone again.
And the protector I’d put on it shattered too, so my obsessive self is back to applying a new one.
Both phones I have use curved screens, which makes protectors a pain to apply — not impossible, though. You need white edge liquid.
First I bought an iPhone 8, since Suning had a special deal a while back. You had to pay a deposit, but overall it was much cheaper than the Apple official site…
After ordering you wait two days to pay, but once paid it arrives the same day — seems to be picked up from Suning’s local Zhengzhou warehouse.
Got it in hand and it just feels small. Really small…
I went to Beijing a while back, and took the chance to buy a few things.
First up is ZMI’s latest USB-C charging cable. It’s a decent cable, braided, and the best part: the plug has a little white light.
I know ZMI isn’t the first to come up with this, but it’s there and it works well enough.
The Nintendo Switch finally arrived before my birthday. Honestly, after buying a 2DS I already felt like the Switch was inevitable, and after thinking it over I went ahead and bought one.
I bought it locally in Zhengzhou, picked it up in person to avoid unnecessary hassle. When I checked it over at pickup, it turned out the three serial numbers all matched, so it should be fine. I picked up Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2, and I’m currently playing Breath of the Wild.
Most of the time I use it as a handheld. I haven’t run into any of those weird problems people complain about online, so I’m pretty happy with it.
I pre-ordered this one and slapped it on the moment it arrived.
I’ve bought a bunch of cheap car mounts before, and they all died on me…
So after a friend’s recommendation, I figured I’d buy something a bit nicer. He suggested Logitech’s IS40.
The IS40 looks pretty good, but it still uses the same magnetic approach I’d tried before, so you need the metal plate. Fortunately I mostly use it with a Nexus 5X, so a metal plate is fine, whatever. As for magnets messing with phones — the Pixel C and the Apple iPad line all have magnets built in and nothing goes wrong, and Logitech’s manual says it’s fine too, so I’ll take their word for it.
