Midori no Umi (翠の海) Review

I first heard about Midori no Umi (翠の海) two years ago. I saw a CG of the heroine standing in the moonlight and she looked so goddamn pretty that I went digging for more, and while I was digging I noticed something off about the CGs — same pose, except in this one she’s holding a bloody knife. Oh. Okay. I know what this is. Yandere heroine setup, dime a dozen. A fan translation seemed to be in the works, so I figured I’d wait for the Chinese release. And I waited. And waited. I waited until even a scrub like me had started reading raw Japanese, and the translation still hadn’t shown up. So I just went and got the game itself. I didn’t know much about it going in. I skimmed some impressions beforehand — mostly positive, but nobody talked about the plot. All they said was that picking the wrong choice gets you killed. “The protagonist dying is no big deal.” So the game began again.

Kami no Ue no Mahoutsukai (紙の上の魔法使い) Review

There is magic in this world, and there are magic books. A magic book is a thing with actual power inside it. The story it holds might be sad, or happy, or left hanging, or wrapped up clean. Nothing special on the surface, maybe. But call something a magic book, and it’s bound to have a “magic” part. “Open a magic book, and the story inside plays out around you for real. The magic only fades once the story reaches its ending.” Amazing, sure. But magic books don’t always bring happiness. More often they’re a pain in the ass for reality. So Yūkōji Anko’s job is to collect them and keep them safe in the magic library. Anko married into the Yūkōji family. For various reasons, the family pushed her out. The Yūkōjis have ties to magic books, but there’s one thing they’re afraid of too: a witch called the Paper Magician. White hair, red eyes, that’s her. During those push-everyone-away days, Yūkōji Anko and her husband had a daughter. The moment she was born, everything changed.

Review: Dell Venue 8 Pro

Bought a Dell Venue 8 Pro with one clear goal: watching Niconico and playing galgame. By now I’ve hit just about every problem there is, so here’s a summary for the people who come after me. So you don’t have to run around asking questions and get looked down on like I did. First, thanks to the kind folks who didn’t look down on me, you’re all good people:
