Impressions: Moto 360 v2

I’ve had the Moto 360 v2 for almost two years now, and Android Wear 2.0 has been out for nearly a year too, yet the update only showed up today. It’s not that I hadn’t thought about switching watches—there just wasn’t anything suitable. So since the update rolled out today, I might as well use it for now.

A Few Days with Moto 360 2nd

Last year I bought the first-gen Moto 360, swapped the band later, and it turned out great. I wore it for a full year and honestly it changed my life a little. Now the upgrade, Moto 360 2nd, is here — redesigned lugs, better battery life, more customization options, and an official China release. I wasn’t really unhappy with the first gen. Battery was enough for me, and the second gen’s “a bit over a day” feels awkward anyway — you still have to charge it at night… The main reason I bought the Moto 360 2nd is… looks. I hated the black first-gen Moto 360. Plenty of people saw it and said it looked like plastic. So while I was kicking myself for not buying silver, I kept refreshing the Google Store until the silver version came back in stock, ordered it and shipped it through a forwarding service. Arrived without a hitch.

Living with Moto 360

I’ve been using the Moto 360 for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve swapped the strap. The stock one isn’t bad, supposedly genuine leather, but I wanted to mess with it anyway, and the matching band wasn’t expensive. The Moto 360 theoretically supports most mainstream watch straps, though I don’t know those markets — I’d never worn a watch before the Moto 360.

Moto 360: First Thoughts

It’s been nearly a month since I got the Moto 360, long enough that I figure I owe it some proper impressions. Photos of how this thing looks are all over the internet already, so I’ll just talk about the parts I think people overlook.
